Hey, I just created this Zimbabwe-related website for free using Weebly.com , and it took me just a few hours, it's that easy. If you have any comments or questions, feel free to add them here. Cheers, Graham
Having a nostalic look back! The school of infantry photo is of Intake 163 and has Myself, Gordon? Rossi, Grant Patterson,Gordon Hogan, Brian Tucker, Henry Rudd, Charlie... a regular from RLI, Gerry Ngwenya, one of the first Black Cadets at school of infantry. I think the officers in the front are Lt. James Thrush BCR and Sgt. Roberta. I will have to see if I can track down my original with everyones names..
Just finished "Once Upon..." and it struck a nerve. Early in my career I was farming north of Toronto whist working as an investment banker in the city. In 1971 or '72 I experienced a strange but palpable, visceral and strong yen to move to Rhodesia to farm. No idea where this came from but a colleague from there brought me photos to look at and was most encouraging.
What a disaster it would have been.
As it was, towards the end of that decade I was seconded to a Nigerian merchant bank to help them introduce state bonds to their domestic capital market, such as it was. My young family spent the year and were able to travel to various areas of the continent. It does get into your skin.
I watched in horror as the world turned its back on Rhodesians and continue to regard it as a great travesty.
Living well is indeed the best revenge and I trust you are.
A wonderful book, thank you for writing it.
